    Unmatched Performance

“Plastic Fusion was hired to test, repair, and replace existing pond liners on a restart project. The scope of work included installing a new insulated HDPE cover on the existing AD lagoon. Not only was the quality of the crew’s work exceptional, PFF was given the “A Team” award for outstanding work ethic.”

      HDPE Caissons Fabrication

Plastic Fusion Fabricators designs and builds custom HDPE caissons for deep-well access, leachate collection, stormwater control, pump stations, and underground containment. Fabricated from heavy-duty HDPE profile wall pipe and fusion-welded by certified technicians, our caissons deliver leak-proof joints, total corrosion resistance, and lightweight durability that concrete and steel structures can’t match in aggressive environments.

HDPE caissons solve the problems that plague traditional concrete and steel underground structures. Concrete cracks and allows infiltration and exfiltration. Steel corrodes in the presence of H₂S, leachate, and aggressive groundwater. HDPE does neither — it’s chemically inert, immune to corrosion, and fusion-welded into monolithic structures with no joints to leak. For leachate collection, wet wells, and chemical containment in corrosive conditions, a fused HDPE caisson outperforms and outlasts the alternatives.

Plastic Fusion has been fabricating custom HDPE structures for over 40 years — with more than 12 million square feet of liner and cover work and 150+ projects behind us. Our in-house fabrication shop builds caissons, manholes, and custom HDPE assemblies to exact project specifications, delivered job-site ready.

      Industries Served

Plastic Fusion fabricates HDPE caissons for landfill and solid waste operators, municipal water and wastewater utilities, oil and gas producers, industrial manufacturers, and environmental construction firms — anywhere underground access, collection, or containment structures need to survive corrosive conditions that defeat concrete and steel.

      HDPE Caisson FAQs

      What is an HDPE caisson?

An HDPE caisson is a custom-fabricated underground structure made from heavy-duty high-density polyethylene profile wall pipe, used for deep-well access, leachate collection, pump stations, stormwater control, and underground containment. Unlike concrete (which cracks and allows infiltration) or steel (which corrodes), HDPE caissons are fusion-welded into monolithic, leak-proof, corrosion-immune structures — making them ideal for aggressive environments like landfills, chemical containment, and produced water handling.

What are the advantages of HDPE caissons over concrete or steel?

HDPE caissons offer leak-proof fused joints (no cracking or infiltration like concrete), total corrosion resistance (immune to the H₂S, leachate, and chemicals that destroy steel), lightweight handling and installation, and long service life in aggressive conditions. They can also be engineered with anti-floatation flanges that provide buoyancy resistance in saturated soils without requiring supplemental concrete backfill — reducing installation cost and complexity.

      What are anti-floatation flanges?

Anti-floatation flanges are square flanges fabricated at the base of a caisson to resist buoyant uplift in fully saturated soils. When a hollow structure is installed below the water table, groundwater pressure tries to float it. Anti-floatation flanges use the weight of the soil above the flange to hold the caisson in place — eliminating the need for the heavy concrete backfill that traditional structures require for stability.

What diameters and depths can you fabricate?

We fabricate caissons in custom diameters and depths matched to your project’s access, flow, and containment requirements. Because caissons are custom-built from profile wall HDPE pipe, dimensions are engineered for each specific application. Contact us with your diameter, depth, and load requirements for a project-specific fabrication.

Can caissons be delivered pre-fitted with pumps and piping?

Caissons can be configured for integration with mechanical systems — pumps, valves, and discharge piping. Coordinating the structure with the equipment it will house ensures everything fits and functions on installation. Discuss your equipment integration requirements with our fabrication team.
