    Unmatched Performance

“Plastic Fusion was hired to test, repair, and replace existing pond liners on a restart project. The scope of work included installing a new insulated HDPE cover on the existing AD lagoon. Not only was the quality of the crew’s work exceptional, PFF was given the “A Team” award for outstanding work ethic.”

Leading Installer of Large & Commercial Lake Liners

Plastic Fusion Fabricators is the leading installer of high-performance lake liners, specializing in the design and installation of durable, leak-proof geomembrane solutions for large lakes, commercial water features, and reservoirs. A lake liner is the impermeable barrier that holds water in the lake — preventing seepage into the ground, controlling erosion, and keeping the water level stable. We install fusion-welded HDPE, LLDPE, and RPP liners engineered for large bodies of water, where extensive seam welding and proper anchoring make professional installation essential. With 40+ years of geomembrane installation across 24 states, Plastic Fusion is the installer to call when a lake has to hold water at scale.

Lining a lake is a different problem from lining a backyard pond. A large body of water means large volumes of liner, long welded seams, careful anchoring around an extensive perimeter, and material that can stand up to years of UV, wind, wave action, and water load. That’s industrial-grade geomembrane work — and it’s exactly what we do.

Large Lakes, Reservoirs & Commercial Water Features

      We line the big ones:

      • Large lakes — commercial, recreational, and amenity lakes lined to stop seepage and hold their level
      • Reservoirs — water-storage reservoirs lined for reliable, low-loss storage
      • Commercial and community water features — large designed water bodies that have to hold water and look right
      • Lake restoration and re-lining — restoring leaking or aging lakes with a new engineered liner

Whatever the water body is called, the engineering is the same: an impermeable, durable, fusion-welded geomembrane sized and installed to the lake.

      Why Line a Lake

      • Stop seepage and water loss — porous or sandy soils let an unlined lake drain into the ground
      • Hold the water level — a sealed lake keeps its level instead of dropping between rains
      • Control erosion — the liner stabilizes the lake bed and slopes against water movement
      • Reliable water retention — for storage, recreation, or amenity, the water stays where it’s meant to be

      Lake Liner Materials

We install the materials built for large, engineered lakes — not the rubber liners meant for decorative backyard ponds:

      • HDPE (high-density polyethylene) — the workhorse for large and commercial lakes: strong, UV-resistant, and durable at scale
      • LLDPE — added flexibility to conform to lake-bed contours and slope transitions
      • RPP (reinforced polypropylene) — a flexible, durable option for lakes that call for it

Every liner is fusion-welded into a continuous, leak-proof barrier and anchored to hold around the full perimeter of the lake.

      Professional Lake Liner Installation

Large bodies of water require extensive seam welding and anchoring, which is why professional installation isn’t optional at this scale. We fabricate the liner to the lake, deploy it across the bed and slopes, fusion-weld every seam into a continuous barrier, and anchor it to hold. Then we test the work before it goes under water. The result is a lake that holds — installed by a crew that does this at industrial scale.

      Lake Liner FAQs

What is the best liner material for a lake?

For large and commercial lakes, HDPE (high-density polyethylene) is the best material — strong, UV-resistant, and durable enough to hold a large body of water for decades. LLDPE adds flexibility for contoured lake beds, and RPP is available where a project calls for it. These industrial-grade geomembranes outperform the EPDM and PVC liners marketed for small decorative ponds when the job is a real lake.

Do I need professional installation for a lake liner?

For a lake, yes. Large bodies of water require extensive seam welding, careful anchoring around the perimeter, and material handling that isn’t practical to do by hand. Professional installation — fabricating to the lake, fusion-welding the seams, anchoring, and testing — is what makes the difference between a lake that holds and one that leaks.

Can you reline or restore an existing lake?

Yes. We restore leaking or aging lakes by installing a new engineered liner, sealing the water body and returning it to reliable water retention.
