    Unmatched Performance

“Plastic Fusion was hired to test, repair, and replace existing pond liners on a restart project. The scope of work included installing a new insulated HDPE cover on the existing AD lagoon. Not only was the quality of the crew’s work exceptional, PFF was given the “A Team” award for outstanding work ethic.”

Wastewater Cover Design & Installation for Lagoons, Digesters & Treatment Basins

Plastic Fusion Fabricators designs and installs wastewater covers for lagoons, digesters, and treatment basins. A wastewater cover is a flexible geomembrane barrier installed over a wastewater impoundment to control odor and emissions, capture biogas, retain heat, and keep weather out of the treatment process. We fabricate and deploy these covers from flexible HDPE and RPP geomembrane, custom-built to the impoundment and installed by certified crews nationwide. With 40+ years of geomembrane fabrication across 24 states, Plastic Fusion is the contractor municipal and industrial operations rely on to cover wastewater the right way.

Wastewater covers are custom-fabricated flexible geomembranes — not aluminum domes, fiberglass panels, or off-the-shelf basin lids. That flexibility is what lets a single cover span a full lagoon or digester, conform to it, rise and fall with liquid level and gas volume, and capture the gas the process produces.

      Why Wastewater Covers Are Used

      • Odor and emission control — captures and contains the gases and odors that would otherwise escape into surrounding communities
      • Biogas collection — captures methane and other gases produced by the wastewater for flaring or energy recovery
      • Heat retention — holds heat in the impoundment to maintain the biological temperature digesters and treatment lagoons need to perform
      • Weather protection — keeps rainwater and debris out of the treatment process, protecting capacity and process control
      • Safety — covers the impoundment surface and restricts access

      Cover Types We Install

We fabricate and install the full range of flexible geomembrane wastewater covers — matched to the impoundment and what it needs to do:

      Flexible Geomembrane Cover Materials

We fabricate wastewater covers from the polyethylene family — flexible geomembrane built for the wastewater environment:

      • HDPE (high-density polyethylene) — durable, chemical-resistant, and the standard for large-span wastewater and digester covers
      • RPP (reinforced polypropylene) — flexible and gas-tight for covers that must contain and collect biogas

Our covers are fabricated to the impoundment and seam-welded into a continuous barrier — gas-tight where biogas capture is the goal, and durable for long service in the field.

      Covers and Liners

A cover sits on top of the impoundment; a liner seals the bottom and sides. Many wastewater projects need both. For the containment liner that seals a wastewater lagoon or basin from below, see our wastewater and lagoon liners.

      Why Choose Plastic Fusion

      Wastewater Cover FAQs

What is a wastewater cover made of?

Our wastewater covers are flexible geomembrane — HDPE or RPP — custom-fabricated to the impoundment and seam-welded into a continuous barrier. Unlike rigid aluminum domes or fiberglass panels, a flexible geomembrane cover can span a full lagoon or digester and rise and fall with liquid level and gas volume.

      Do wastewater covers capture biogas?

Yes. A gas-tight cover captures the methane and process gas produced by the wastewater so it can be flared or recovered for energy. For gas-capture-focused systems, see our biogas collection covers.

Can a cover retain heat for a digester?

Yes. Covers hold heat in the impoundment, helping maintain the biological temperature anaerobic digesters and treatment lagoons need to perform through colder conditions.

      Do you install covers nationwide?

Yes. Our certified crews deploy nationwide, with active projects across 24 states.
