Unmatched Performance
“Plastic Fusion was hired to test, repair, and replace existing pond liners on a restart project. The scope of work included installing a new insulated HDPE cover on the existing AD lagoon. Not only was the quality of the crew’s work exceptional, PFF was given the “A Team” award for outstanding work ethic.”

Industrial & Commercial Pond Liner Installation
Plastic Fusion Fabricators installs engineered pond liners for industrial, commercial, and agricultural ponds nationwide. A pond liner is the impermeable geomembrane barrier that contains a pond’s contents and keeps them from seeping into the ground — and for the ponds we line, that’s not a backyard kit. We install fusion-welded HDPE and RPP geomembrane liners for retention ponds, irrigation and agricultural ponds, industrial process ponds, coal ash and mining ponds, and more — engineered to the pond, the contents, and the regulations. With 40+ years installing geomembrane containment across 24 states, Plastic Fusion is the contractor that builds pond liners to contain for the long term.
There’s a big difference between a backyard pond liner and an engineered containment pond liner. A garden pond uses a loose EPDM or PVC sheet you can install with a shovel and a weekend. An industrial retention pond, an irrigation reservoir, a coal ash pond, or a frac pond is a different problem entirely — it has to hold a large volume, resist the chemistry of what it contains, survive UV exposure on the slopes, meet regulatory permeability standards, and not leak for decades. That takes an engineered geomembrane, fusion-welded into a continuous leak-free barrier and installed by a crew that welds and tests every seam. That’s what Plastic Fusion does.
Pond Liners by Application
We line ponds and basins across stormwater, agricultural, energy, industrial, and infrastructure applications. Each has its own requirements, and we build to them:
Stormwater & retention
- Retention pond liners — for stormwater retention and detention ponds
Agricultural & irrigation
- Agricultural liners — for farm ponds, storage, and agricultural containment
- Irrigation pond liners — for irrigation reservoirs and storage ponds
Energy, mining & resources
- Coal ash pond liners — for CCR ponds, ash pond closure, and remediation
- Frac pond liners — for oilfield and energy water storage
- Mining liners — for mining process and containment ponds
- Tailings pond liners — for tailings storage facilities
- Cooling pond liners — for power and industrial cooling ponds
Industrial & process
- Industrial pond liners — for process water and industrial containment ponds
- Fuel containment liners — for fuel and hydrocarbon containment
Water conveyance & infrastructure
- Canal liners — for canals and water conveyance
- Dam liners — for dams and impoundments
- Dike liners — for dikes and levees
- Ditch liners — for drainage and conveyance ditches
- Berm liners — for berms and secondary containment
Water features & recreation
- Lake liners — for large lakes and water features
- Golf course pond liners — for golf course water features and irrigation ponds
What Makes an Engineered Pond Liner
The pond liners we install are built to contain under real conditions:
- Fusion-welded seams — HDPE and RPP liners are thermally fused into a single continuous barrier, with no glued or taped seams to fail
- Material matched to the contents — chemical resistance specified to what the pond holds, from irrigation water to process chemicals to ash leachate
- Engineered for the site — sized to the pond, anchored in trenches, detailed at penetrations, and built for the slopes and subgrade
- Tested and documented — seam testing and installation records for regulatory review
- Installed, not shipped — we’re the contractor that deploys and welds the liner, not a company that mails you a roll
Containment Pond Liners
Many of the ponds we line are containment ponds — engineered to capture and hold industrial, agricultural, or environmental liquids and keep them out of the groundwater. We install containment liners for irrigation ponds, process ponds, pits, and basins, built to the permeability and chemical-resistance requirements the application demands. A lined containment pond is only as good as its liner and its seams, which is why fusion welding and testing matter.
Pond Liner Materials
We install HDPE and RPP geomembrane pond liners. HDPE is the workhorse for industrial and large-scale ponds — excellent chemical resistance, UV durability, and a long service life, fusion-welded into a continuous barrier. RPP offers flexibility and conformance where the application calls for it. Both are engineered geomembranes built for containment at scale, not the lightweight commodity liners sold for garden ponds.
Lining a Lagoon?
If your project is a wastewater, sewage, or manure lagoon rather than a pond, that’s a related but distinct application — see our lagoon liners page for lagoon-specific containment.
Why Engineers, Operators, and Owners Choose Plastic Fusion
- 40+ years installing geomembrane pond and containment liners
- Installer and fabricator — not a liner reseller
- Fusion-welded HDPE and RPP liners with documented seam testing
- Material specified to the pond’s contents, exposure, and service life
- Built to EPA, NRCS, and applicable state and federal containment standards
- In-house fabrication of penetration details and custom fittings
- Active projects across 24 states with nationwide mobilization
Industries Served
Plastic Fusion installs pond liners for utilities and power generators, mining and minerals operations, oil and gas, agricultural and irrigation operations, municipalities, industrial manufacturers, and the engineering firms designing containment systems. We work alongside operators, design engineers, and regulators to deliver a pond liner that contains and complies.
Pond Liner FAQs
What kind of pond liners does Plastic Fusion install?
We install engineered HDPE and RPP geomembrane liners for industrial, commercial, and agricultural ponds — retention and detention ponds, irrigation and agricultural ponds, industrial process ponds, coal ash and mining ponds, frac ponds, cooling ponds, and lakes. These are large-scale, fusion-welded containment liners installed by our crews, not the lightweight EPDM or PVC sheets sold for backyard garden ponds.
What’s the difference between an industrial pond liner and a garden pond liner?
A garden pond liner is a loose EPDM or PVC sheet for a small backyard feature, installed by hand. An industrial or commercial pond liner is an engineered containment system: a large-format HDPE or RPP geomembrane, fusion-welded into a continuous barrier, specified for the contents and exposure, anchored and detailed for the site, and built to meet regulatory containment standards. The scale, the materials, the seaming, and the engineering are all different, and so is the installation.
What material is best for an industrial pond liner?
For most industrial and large-scale ponds, HDPE is the standard — it delivers chemical resistance, UV durability, and a long service life, and it fusion-welds into a fully continuous barrier. RPP is used where added flexibility is needed. The right choice depends on the pond’s contents, size, and exposure, which is why we specify the liner to the application rather than offering a one-size-fits-all product.
Do you install the liner or just supply it?
We install. Plastic Fusion is a pond liner contractor — we deploy the geomembrane, fusion-weld and test every seam, build the anchor trenches, detail the penetrations, and deliver a finished, tested, compliant liner. The seams are where pond liners most often fail when installed by non-specialists, and we’re accountable for them.
Can you line coal ash, mining, and tailings ponds?
Yes. These are among the most demanding pond liner applications, with strict regulatory and chemical-resistance requirements. We install liners for CCR (coal combustion residual) ponds and ash pond closures, mining process and containment ponds, and tailings storage facilities. See our coal ash, mining, and tailings pond liner pages for those specific applications.
